Day 22: hungry hungry hips

Folks when I woke up today, my legs said, " J-Tags! We are hungry!". So I walked up to the hotel lobby and ate some Big Texas cinnamon rolls. But that did not satiate them. They were hungry for the open road. To describe the part of Wyoming I rode through today in one word, I would say flat. Don't get me wrong, I had a few climbs, but for the most part I could see three to four miles ahead of me on the straight roads of this state full of straight shooters. So I pushed it a little today and tried to feed to ol' pedal turners.

Here is me being happy after lunch:

In Muddy Gap WY, people write their names on the ceiling and walls in the only store/building in town:

I could see these mountains for hours while I biked straight towards them:

And now I am camping at a campground:

Day 22: the heart of Wyoming

YouTube Video

I have been riding well this morning due to the favorable winds and terrain. Knock on wood, my wheel seems to be holding up well too. I stopped at a rest stop to cook myself a tasty lunch and as I pulled out I noticed a patch of shade ahead of me. A cloud was moving past the sun and headed east, just like me! I was able to speed up enough to catch the cloud and ride the only shade in the whole valley for about two miles. It was a lot of fun.

Day 21: Lander part deaux

My ride back to Lander from DuBois was lovely. I broke it down into two 30 mile stretches and one 15er. I feel confident in my ability to ride, I am only nervous about my back wheel and its ability to make it to Pueblo.

All in all it felt like a pretty restful day. I took a shower, sat in a hot tub, and then took another shower. No aches or pains tonight.
